This book is a ‘how to’ guide and as such is deliberately short.
It is designed for the user to be able to pick up, quickly understand the value add of CSR and then act to implement a meaningful CSR strategy. It is of use whether an organisation is starting from scratch or if they have initiatives in place that might need fine tuning or review. It is not prescriptive, but lays down steps and concepts that need consideration for a successful program.
The book is based on what I have learned in implementing programs and from shared experiences with CSR colleagues. I believe that done well, CSR can have a transformative effect on businesses and the community – everything I have learned is distilled down into this publication.
Finally, because this is a ‘how to guide’, it does not include anecdotes and case studies. At the back, I have included a list of books that give a fuller understanding of the theoretical side, as well as case studies.
