Breaking It Down 1

Most drum instruction books focus on snare drum or drum set. This beginner book combines snare drum and drum set. First, you will learn a specific rhythm on snare drum followed by several reading exercises using that rhythm. Next, you will learn how to apply that rhythm to various beats on the drum set. Not only will you learn multiple drum beats but you will understand how to take a simple snare drum rhythm and transform it onto the drum set. Most of the drum set lessons in this book consist of an A, B, C, and D part for each of the drum set exercises. "A" shows the snare rhythm. "B" takes the rhythm and plays it between the bass and snare. "C" takes the bass rhythm and plays it along with a hi-hat pattern. "D"; is your main objective. It combines all the parts together. Using this system, allows one to fully understand how to read and play a pattern on the drum before using other limbs of the body on the drum set. Many books give you drum beats to play but don't explain the best way of achieving that beat. This book also includes snare drum solos, drum set solos, and drum fills. "Breaking It Down" is a helpful guide for the student or teacher in learning or teaching snare drum reading and drum set at the same time.
