My Beautiful Beast

Adrenalin ‘junkie’ Scott Parker is contemptuous of conformist society and the rules everyone else abides by. Now middle-aged he still hasn’t come to terms with his divorce, still born daughter and failure of a dream life in France.
His life is about to change drastically and forever when he meets the enigmatic, beautiful Fayette Le Bon, twenty-eight years his junior, who is recruited to his school where he teaches art.
He drives her to France to spend the summer seeing friends and visiting her estranged father: a violent drunk, psychologically maimed by his experience of the German occupation of his town in June ’44. Scott will oversee the sale of his house, Le Cerisier, under pressure from his ex-wife who he still loves to sell it. Their sexual relationship intensifies after they discover Faye’s father hanging. Like him she is also predisposed to mental health difficulties. His suicide triggers the onset of a rare, potentially dangerous psychiatric disorder called clinical lycanthropy in which she imagines herself transforming into a beautiful black cat. Her sexuality becomes increasingly bizarre and deviant. Scott believes she sees him not as a lover but a surrogate father.
As her mental health disintegrates he tries to get her admitted – with the help of his reclusive neighbour, Patrice, who is infatuated with the bewitching Faye to a psychiatric hospital. He fears for everyone’s safety.
Unexpectedly, his ex-wife arrives in France to attend the wedding of Patrice’s oldest brother and, he suspects, to ensure the sale of Le Cerisier. She remarks on Faye’s beauty to which he replies she is a deranged ‘beast’. During a bizarre disco after the wedding, Faye, masked as a cat, violently attacks Scott with devastating consequences.
