Penny Kerr returns home after years of life in the big city. Her parent's home is endangered by a serious forest fire and she is trying to save what she can

One of the firefighters has to tell Penny that the house has been saved but it's also damaged. The rest of the news is also grim. Penny takes out her frustrations on one of the firefighters, Cole Landsdowne.

Pastor Jack Merganser of the Wallowa Bible Church is an old friend of Penny's family and tries to counsel her in her time of pain. Animals and material things are sad when they are lost but Pastor Jack and Cole make it clear to Penny that other things are more dear, such as her life.

Cole and Penny are drawn together in this time of need and Penny remembers the importance of Walking His Path.
