Description
This book deals with the estimation of Iodized Salt Consumption in North Coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. It is well documented and results reveals that the prevalence of Goiter is significantly higher in the high land areas of Visakhapatnam district than Vizianagaram district mostly plain rendering support to the prevailing views expressed by scientists that the cause of iodine deficiency disorder (IDD) is geographical i.e. altitude and the distance from the sea. A cross-sectional community based field surveys was carried out in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh. The Iodine content of household salt samples ranged from < 1 ppm - > 15 ppm and that of the School, Hostel, Anganwadi and Retail Shop samples ranged from 15 ppm - > 30 ppm.
