HIBAKUSHAVoices and Visions for Peace: Survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic Bombs: Stories of Struggle and Commitment for the Abolishment of Nuclear Weapons

Stories and portraits of Hibakusha. Survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs came to New York City in April of 2015 to observe the 70th anniversary of the bombings and to share their experiences and advocate at the United Nations and community gatherings to eliminate all nuclear weapons worldwide. Inspired by their commitment, photographer Francois Bonneau created portraits of several Hibukusha activists during their visit. Their personal testimonies accompanied by his compelling portraits powerfully convey their stand for a peaceful world without nuclear weapons. This book serves their intended legacy -- that they be humanity's first and final generation of Hibakusha.

This book provides a way to launch discussions among friends, family, schools, businesses and community groups to discuss its topics: history, war, peace, courage, activism, the impact of nuclear weapons today, and how it is possible for people individually and collectively to make a difference for the future of the world and take action, as the Hibakusha have done.

Fifty percent of the proceeds from this book will be donated to support the Hibakusha in their advocacy efforts for peace.
