A Letter To You, The Parents

Dear Parents,
I want to take this opportunity to let you know a little bit about me and why I am writing books for your 6-12 year old children.
I am a school teacher in Fulton, NY. A few years back, I decided to write a few stories to my classes as end of the school year gifts. These stories were the first two books in the Coby Collins series. Long story short, I became quickly enamored with the idea of sitting in front of a computer and making stuff up…that’s all writing fiction is, after all. It’s a lot of fun.

I write a wide variety of books for kids ages 9-12, though most of my stories would be completely suitable for kids in the 6-8 year age range as well.

I write a number of short stories as well. I love the power of a short story. It can be really fun to spend a short amount of time with one or two characters as they have an adventure. In all actuality, most of my books are short stories. This is for two reasons: 1) I have a lot of different thoughts going on in my head, and writing a short story about something allows me to get that thought out and move onto the next one. 2) I think the length of a short story lends itself to reading just before bed, or fulfilling the nightly reading assignment from school.
