The Letter From Jude: Verse By Verse Study

Contend for the faith? In a church? Surely one should be contending for the faith outside the church where people don’t believe in God or follow Jesus. But no. Jude was saying they needed to contend for the faith in the church.
That is very sad. In a church we should be secure in our faith. We should be in fellowship with people who love God and who follow His Word. We should be with people who don’t try to alter His Word into something they think is more acceptable. We should be in an atmosphere of worship and praise where people are eager to get to know God better and to serve Him.
But the church or churches to whom Jude was writing had allowed wrong teaching into their church. They had let people infiltrate their fellowships who were altering God’s Word. Worse than that, they were listening to them.
