“I need to lather up a horse and then ride up to the door and beg for help I will tell them the Apache are behind me. The fighting men will head for the towers and ground positions. I will be inside with my knife. Our men will be behind them except for the snipers with composite bows. Will they believe that?” Katy asked.

“We have been at peace with the Spanish for over a hundred years. But they too have long memories and they know that we do too. They will be afraid to not believe it. They will deploy. I don't know what they will do to you Little Knife.”

“I will take the chance on them carrying it out. If their warriors deploy I will open the back door for the workers. Whatever they do to me will be after the fighting.”

“Ken take a horse out about five miles and bring him back at a gallop. We hit them an hour before dawn.”

“Our men are in place and the workers are armed and on the way down. Katy are you sure you still want to do this.”

“I am ready.”




“Please let me in the Apache are coming. They burned our ranch! They can't be far behind me.”
