Description
What if a god doesn’t believe in himself? Struggling with self-doubt and anger, sixteen-year-old Robert doesn’t even have a clue he is a Norse god. He’s got too many problems already. He is haunted by a vision of a stalking wolf and a woman in the water. He’s just been dumped by his girlfriend and has punched a rival classmate. Principal Nora, who’s also his adoptive grandmother, threatens to suspend him. He’s got no friends. And things are about to get worse. Feeling lost and lonely, watching the northern lights dance against the dark Arctic sky, Robert recalls one of the old stories Grandpa Woody told him when he was a kid. He’d said the lights signified the gods having a party with dead virgins. But you should never wave a white cloth at them because a god might come down and take your head off. Robert waves his white hoodie at the lights. Nothing seems to happen. Soon after, a guy named Ivan transfers to Robert’s school.
Ivan likes to joke around and have fun with people, and he does killer impressions. He quickly befriends Robert, but there’s something strange about the new trickster in class. Somehow, though, he manages to convince Robert and a couple of classmates to follow his outrageous lead.
A terrible winter buries the land in snow, and the Norse myths appear to come alive. Robert faces incredible powers, but he must believe in order to awaken the god within. And he needs to wake up before they’re all destroyed by the deadly nightmare that’s waiting at the end.
The Lost Sons of Asgard enjoys the company of young adults and up. It likes Norse mythology, sports psychology, meditation, and leadership, and loves to entertain and make people laugh. It tries to behave well, but fails at times because it gets distracted and has a dirty sense of humor. It has a big heart but suffers allergic reactions if exposed to flowery prose, fluff, and sappy romance. The next book in the Endangered Norse Gods series will be out in spring 2016.
