A wealthy business tycoon is murdered in the most heinous of fashions. She sold an international sandal manufacturing company. She founded that company as a young, fringe, hippie girl.
The murder looks like a good fit on her husband. Often they do. He however has a talent for perplexing the investigation at the exact moment it is ready to hang him.
Ken Lamm retired from a big city police force. He was the precinct captain of a bicycle squad. He has investigative abilities, but he doubts anything like what is needed to solve this crime. He and the murdered woman were neighbors, and friends. They each retired to the Virginias' stylish Five Cliffs District, a resort mountain enclave. He knows the lay of the land.
Inept as an investigator, or not, he needs to solve this crime, because the police look ready to pin-it on not only the dead woman's husband, but on Ken, as an accomplice.
