Shani has just graduated college, but the economy is so bad, she can’t find work. Desperate and very frustrated, she takes her stress out by going to a local party. Her best friend says it’s all the rage, and, hey, why not? Shani needs the self-confidence boost, and moreover, she wants to get loose and have some fun already.

At the party, Shani sees her ex-boyfriend. She broke up with him a long time ago, but he can’t seem to keep his hands off her. Frustrated and worried about her safety, Shani attempts to leave, but she stumbles and falls.

Just then, a handsome Asian man, Wei, steps in to save Shani. He beats back the creepy ex, saves her life, and gets them away from the chaotic party. Before Shani knows it, she’s running back to her car with Wei, driving away with Wei, and…

There’s only one problem: not everyone approves, especially Wei’s traditional Chinese mother and Shani’s uptight family. On top of that, Shani’s having flashbacks from her run-in with her ex.
