Operation Single Dad: A Serialized Journal of Parental Warfare (Accepting Defeat Book 1)

Operation Single Dad: A Serialized Journal of Parental Warfare is a series of essays chronicling my ongoing experience with parenting. Through humor and unrestrained reflection, I explore my past while raising my daughter. Generally speaking, I am a middle aged military veteran, recovering drug addict and unemployed construction worker. She is a precocious pre-teen adventure seeker who sometimes forgets who the parent is in our relationship. Together we live in the basement of my parents townhome in the American Midwest. During her ninth year of existence, she raced a male contemporary in a timed event climbing the second largest maple tree in our neighborhood. She had already been told not to climb that particular tree, twice. In order to win the event, she was required to climb its branches, to the topmost leaf, then be the first one to climb back down to the ground. She was disqualified from the race due to a technicality. She fell out of the tree once she reached its top. Three surgeries later, which required over fifty stitches, she earned the nickname "The Monkey". She calls me Daddy.
