The laugh out loud series that ran online for over a decade is now available exclusively at the Kindle store!
"I just spent 5 minutes choking on my sandwich with laughter" - Jon M
Dennis and Francois are men who never grew up. Remember the annoying child at primary school who spied on the bike sheds and sent written reports to teacher and flaunted their pocket money? Dennis and Francois are still like that.
Dennis Brent has obviously never visited the local 'Open-Minded Boutique' (aka dirty old man shop) but when the owner is murdered, he reluctantly agreed to help Francois Devine investigate. Mr Owen, the police and (apparently) most of the village are being blackmailed by a man (or woman) known only as Steve. With the aid of a 107 year old crime writer, Dennis and Francois risk their lives tackling police corruption and deadly blackmailers.
Mr Owen's widow is now a wealthy woman and claims to have destroyed vital evidence, Inspector Lent is sabotaging the investigation and threatening our heroes, Dennis is being intimately violated by his dentist, and at least one of Bendaton's celebrated telehistorians is going to be murdered. Will anyone survive long enough to unmask Steve?

I couldn’t allow myself to be dismissed by a second rate archivist like Francois Devine so I decided to do what he was seemingly incapable of doing and actually find a clue. Mr Owen’s desk diary was sat on a table by what I assumed was his favourite arm chair and I flipped it open. He only had two appointments today – one at midday for someone called FD to collect a delivery from Belgium and one at 11am with a person referred to solely as Steve. I mentioned this to Francois Devine.
“Gasp” he said. “Let us focus entirely on the 11am entry and ignore the obviously irrelevant midday entry with Frank Davenport, Fergus Delaney, Frazer Delfont, Filipe D’Amore, Fintan Devilry, Felix Dangerfield, Freddy Damien, Fabio Deezle, Frankie Dasher, Fang Dong, Floyd Dibber, Franklin Delphic or any of the other gentlemen in Bendaton with those initials.”
“What is so special about Steve?” I asked.
“Because Steve happens to be a dastardly blackmailer and it is my bet he had his claws into Mr Owen because of his status as the proprietor of the Open-Minded Boutique.”
