Description
I have always admired people who want to play a musical instrument. There is something very noble about wanting to pick up this art which has been passed down to us by our ancestors since as early as we can remember. There is something intrinsically fascinating about being able to produce music, when you think about it. When you pick up an instrument and play a melody, you are continuing a legacy which has been contributed to by some of the most intelligent people in history. You have the possibility to make sounds which will mean different things to everyone.
And everyone loves the thought of that, don't they?
Music conjures up a slightly different meaning in everyone. Interpretation will be influenced by many factors, which makes up part of the beauty of it- everyone will have a different interpretation. Some people see music as an opportunity to reflect and do some thinking – there is evidence that listening to Mozart for a period momentarily raises IQ for a period of time. Meanwhile, others see it as a way to express their feelings in a telling and non-damaging way. It is often mentioned, in interviews with professional musicians, about how publishing music is a way for these people to channel their thoughts in a productive and satisfying way.
In my experience, the way to make the most of music is to live it. To let it flow through you, rejuvenating you and leaving you feeling reinvigorated and fresh. The best way to live music, for me, is to make it. There is something inexplicably attractive to producing music; it is indescribably satisfying! Maybe it is something about the fact that we are making something which contains a part of us- indeed, music is inextricably tied to the musician- or maybe it is because we have the means to induce emotions in other people, who knows? Besides the fact that music induces happiness, there is also this idea of bettering yourself as a person. As studies have shown, playing a musical instrument opens up different parts of the brain. There is also the aspect of developing our personalities and playing an instrument as a hobby.
As time has passed, I have had the opportunity to observe many people as they started playing a musical instrument. I have seen many people try to do it, or do it with such a lack of enthusiasm that I was seriously saddened by it, that I have decided that I need to do something about it. My sister was one of these people. It often starts as a parent thinking it would be beneficial for their child to learn a new skill, or as a good New Year's resolution- and it often ends there, too! That is what lead me to find my passion in teaching people and enabling them to reach their goals, whatever they may be, with playing their musical instrument!
And that is why I am writing this book- because I have a desire to bring you to your personal success!
