Description

I've always had a different vision of reality than all I met. My twisted sense of humor, without factoring in any political correctness, helped me survive and overcome extreme shyness to earn a living. Although having a narrow range of interests (preoccupations), I was comfortable enough to be around those that shared the same interests.

However, I never got there with women. Like any guy, the differences in my mind between the sexes have been spelled out over the centuries. Hormones, cerebral makeup and how the sexes are raised highlight the distinctions. Then during one encounter, as we were about to part our separate ways, I found out the real reason I was so different. I have Aspergers Syndrome. In my book, my encounters with women are illustrated in comic strips, described as it were a boxing match, through poetry and some unreal conversations no normal man would ever have with a women. The old guy-young girl story is not what anyone would expect. I show how I got over many insecurities to put myself in the company of some beautiful women.

For most people finding out your on the autism spectrum would be depressing, however, for me, at age 60, it was the most empowering experience of my life. I took my savant abilities and focused on what I know to further prosper in the stock market. More importantly, my discovery was the final piece to my son's confusing medical history. Barely able to speak at age 4, his break through to being the young man he is today is both heart wrenching and later warming. For those of us who feel more connected to our dogs than people, my stories about Moe, the Chihuahua, show how he survived 5 attempts by my ex-wife to accidentally end his life. This tough 9 pound ball of thunder survives in his world being true to himself....much like me. Outside the Boxe is not a memoir of someone living life with Aspergers, but someone living a different quirky life.
