Description
"The universe is vast and confining. There it stretches beyond what the eye can see, yet so little of it has the constituents to let us live.
There she is, acceptable and inappropriate."
In Time and Space two people alone, a woman and a man, make up the crew of a ship on a mission to mars. They are in the midst of their journey and are tired, burned out, and incompatible. When their radio contact is broken and then their rocket misfires sending them to some unknown part of the solar system where their chance of being found much less rescued is not worth considering, they are left blaming each other. Grudgingly, they inhabit the ship together, cooperating only when necessary, until she reaches the limits of her patience. She begins a fight with him, not clear if it is to be to the death or not. The result of the fight changes life on the ship more than the loss of radio contact or the rocket misfire could ever do. Survival on the ship becomes a series of uncertain tasks based on instinct, little intellect, and emotion.
