Rebekah Bradley is the only survivor of a brutal attack of Apache Indians during her trip west with her older brother. Hiding inside a built-in box inside the wagon she was traveling in, Rebekah is found unconscious by men from the town of De Smet in the Dakota Territory. Johann Tska, who runs the hotel, agrees to shelter Rebekah while she grieves for her brother and family who were lost in the raid.

Realizing she needs money to live, Rebekah asks Johann if she can work for him waiting tables. Johann agrees as he s found a soft spot for the beautiful young woman.
