Melinda didn’t intend to cheat on her inattentive boyfriend Jonathan in New York, but the mess she’s made of their relationship pushes her to leave on a one-way trip to Italy.

Her well-connected host, Lella, introduces Melinda to life in Milan, job opportunities, and her particularly fascinating cousin, Alberto. While Melinda gets started working in the design capital, Jonathan arrives. He has managed to find a job in a photography studio there, where he remains incognito until he accidentally bumps into Melinda on a train to Rome.
