Descriptions of their travels and her work shows an interesting picture of early times in East Africa of nearly 50 years ago. 34 years later, the author at the age of 71, now single, embarks on a 9 months long Trans-Africa Safari, traversing 23 countries in a truck with 11 others camping along the way, cooking over a fire and getting close up and personal with the lands and people of those countries. A romance with a W. African man she meets in Ghana blossoms along the way thru phone and email contact. she goes back to Ghana when the safari is over to be with him and there life together spanning three years is told in frankness and honesty. Back in the United States the author once again misses the African continent and decides at the age of 78 to volunteer in South Africa at children's orphanage and see a bit of South Africa for a couple of months. Later that year she goes to The National Wildlife Veterinary Hospital in Uganda for three months and finally tracking lions in S. Africa at the ripe old age of 80 make for a fascinating story of an adventurous woman living her passion for Africa.
