Listen / Robin Rance

Tansy Whitfield had a perfect life; she had a devoted husband who loved her and their daughter...

It was my anniversary, but after a tragic accident, that caused my husband's organs to shut down, and put him on life support, I was faced with the most difficult decision of my life, one that would affect both my daughter and my future.

I'd spent the last fifteen years of my life with my incredible husband. He would no longer be there to take me dancing, or to kiss me good night. Our daughter, Tess, needed her father. He had been her hero, her safe place to go when the world got too scary.

Eventually, my daughter and I decided to sell our home, the memories of Samuel living with us there, were too much. We would move to Idaho to be closer to my mother. So, we packed up the house and said our goodbyes to the friends we'd had for many years and closed the door.

Tess wanted to spend a few weeks with her grandparents on her father's side. I watched her drive away in the car with them, but before I could move on with my life, I had one more place that I needed to visit.

Samuel and I spent every year at an old Inn located in the small town of Lava Hot Springs. I decided to spend some time there. I had unfinished business that I needed to lay to rest.

I'd finally made it to the Bed and Breakfast, and now the first thing I wanted to do was to soak my body in the mineral spa and relax.

However, relaxing was the last thing on my mind when I saw the new proprietor of the School House Inn for the first time.

October was always the start of our busy season. People flocked to the Bed and Breakfast in the winter time so they could sit in one of our mineral pools and watch the snow cover the grounds as it fell upon their heads.

I was booked this week, and we were expecting another storm. I'd just finished going over my incoming reservations when I heard someone's bags banging up the stairs. I was prepared to tell the thoughtless person making all the racket to be considerate of the other guests, but the words never left my lips.

I didn't usually stare but swear I did this time. The woman stuck her hand out to shake mine. "Hello, I'm Tansy Whitfield. I made reservations online. Could I have a room that overlooks the Port Neuf River?"

This inspirational romance by Robin Rance will be the perfect read if you're a fan of Nicole Sparks, and it's similar to her book, 'Every Breath.'
