I stared at myself in the mirror, serenading the room as I listened to Eve on the radio. I couldn’t help but feel ashamed as I bobbed my head to the beat and sang along to the lyrics as I placed a bag of ice gently over My blackened eye. How could I be this woman? This woman of substance and a woman of voice to help others, but here I was being beaten. Sometimes love is blind and it for sure took over my mind…I just prayed that I would find the courage to leave and be the woman I was destined to be.
