The Doctor Will See You Now

"Hi, I'm Mike, and I have an empathy disorder." If there were a support group for Dr. Michael Blake's condition, that is how he would introduce himself. But there aren't any, and he probably wouldn't go if there were. So, instead, he spends his days working as a diagnostician from inside the safe confines of his office at South Shore University Medical Center. There he reads files, writes prescriptions, and saves lives. His life should be fulfilling, but his condition causes his body to experience the symptoms of his patients whenever he is in the room with them, forcing him to diagnose from afar. Although this is for his own health and safety, the distance from his patients certainly weighs heavily on him. However, this forced distance is tested when the case of a young boy with what at first appears to be Type I Diabetes crosses his desk, forcing him out of his comfort zone and closer to the edge than he's ever been. Dr. Blake knows he can save this boy's life. The question is, how far will he have to go to do it?
