Fly, Lily, Fly is the story of a young girl torn between two worlds. The fantasy world she has carefully crafted in her mind, skillfully constructed to shield her from the harsh realities of the real world she is forced to inhabit ; a world filled with divorce, mental illness, suicide, poverty and uncertainty.
Lily and the siblings life is made all the more difficult, as they attend a parochial school financed by charity, where they are looked upon as misfits. Momma's illness is viewed by the church as sin, resulting in further ostricization of the family.
