Industrial Materials: Volume 1, Metals and Alloys

The first volume in a two-part set for sophomore/junior level study of industrial materials. (Volume II is devoted to polymers, ceramics, and composites.) These books can be used together in a traditional, two-term course; or, independently in single-term courses tailored to specific materials and their properties/ applications. This practical introduction to metals and alloys gives students the background they need to make optimal use of materials in a variety of manufacturing applications. The authors present a wealth of information in a logical organization whose use of case studies injects needed realism, and whose practical focus concentrates on imparting an understanding of how and when materials are used, rather than teaching computational skills or theoretical knowledge.
