Holt Call to Freedom Texas: Strategies and Practice Reading Grades 6-8 Beginnings to 1877

Strategies and Practice for Reading in the Social Studies has been created to aid students in reading and understanding the material in their textbooks. The opening section of this book contains several reading strategies with a sample passage showing the application of each strategy. The second section of this workbook contains actual passages from the students' social studies text. Each passage is taken directly from the textbook and is accompanied by four multiple-choice questions that allow the students to apply the strategies modeled in the opening section.
