Local Area Networks

For courses in Electronic and Computer Technology, with a concentration on Networking and/or Local Area Networks. This text covers in depth the basics of networking, including the OSI model, how to build a network, major protocol suites including TCP/IP and IPX, the most common network operating systems (including Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Novell NetWare) and the common network services (including DHCP server, DNS server, email, web server, and file sharing). Using an easy-to-read format, it gives students a good foundation on how to install and configure networks, and troubleshoot network problems. Hands-on exercises reinforce concepts and lists of websites provide further information.
