Unix Distributed Programming

Primarily aimed at C programmers, this book takes a broad view of distributed programming within a UNIX environment. It includes many coded examples to illustrate the techniques described - mostly in the form of a complete working program. The reader can use these programs as a template or starting point for his or her own applications. "Distributed Programing with UNIX" takes the reader through a wide range of issues - from simple pipes to traditional client/server network application to the exploitation of true concurrency and parallelism. The underlying support offered by UNIX for manipulating processes and for inter-process communication is discussed in depth, compared and contrasted, and set into context within the broader field of distributed programming.
