If you are already familiar with basic programming concepts and especially if you are comfortable with Unix, CGI Developer's Resource can get you up to speed with CGI quickly (even if you're not familiar with the specifics of developing for the Internet). With examples primarily in Perl and Tcl, J. M. Ivler shows how to pull off common Web tricks like sending form contents as e-mail, implementing counters, working with data files, and employing server-side includes. While none of this material is groundbreaking, it provides a solid set of information that Web server programmers will want to keep at hand.
