Hidden Cities: The Discovery and Loss of Ancient North American Civilization

For nearly 6000 years the Ohio and Mississippi valleys sustained cultures whose architecture rivaled the pyramids of Mexico and Egypt. Yet the history and archaeology of these early North Americans have been largely ignored and in some cases forgotten. This text recovers the heritage of the earliest North American peoples and reveals the sophistication and complexity of their early cities and offers reasons why history has until recently refused to credit fully the accomplishments of Native Americans.
