Horizons Grade 6 Teacher Resource Package: Harcourt School. Examination Copy A copy which is furnished free to teachers by textbook publishers in the hope that the teacher will like the book enough to want to use it in their classes. This occurs mostly at the community college/college/university level where teachers can use whatever book we so desire. There are a few publishers that will charge for their examination copies if you don't adopt their books, but the books they offer are usually very specialized. Examination copies are identical to the regular student textbooks except for the fact that the first (varies) 25 - 50 pages consist of a sales pitch for the book telling you why this book is the best! Then, the regular textbook begins. Many people think these books contain exams and answers - they don't. There are separate books (or discs) which are available for faculty members which contain all those goodies. If you find someone selling examination copies on-line prior to the start of a school semester you can usually find them at less than half the price of a regular book since once you buy it, you're stuck with it unless you can find someone who is taking the course the next semester and you can sell it to them.
