Academic Writing Course

This popular and effective course has been fully revised and updated. It is presented in a new larger format and offers more help with academic writing. The book has been devised at "Cambridge First Certificate" level, and is specially designed for students embarking on a tertiary level course in higher education. It addresses all aspects of academic writing, from the details of spelling and punctuation and the use of accurate grammatical construction, to appropriate style choices. The main body of the book - functions of written English - consists of 15 units of material. Written practice is given at different levels within each unit. Each unit includes a "Structure and Vocabulary Aid", where main items are summarized. The ten appendices act as a bank of useful material, cross-referenced from the main units, covering such areas as punctuation, irregular verbs and referencing. A glossary of examination and essay terms is also included.
