Resource and Environmental Management in Canada: Addressing Conflict and Uncertainty brings together contributions from more than two dozen specialists in the field. It is tailored specifically to university students and has four overall goals: to explain how the resource management process works; to illustrate the variety of strategies used; to outline the various technical and non-technical considerations that influence decisions; and to emphasize the tradeoffs that must be made to accommodate a broad range of legitimate societal interests. The reader will find the fourth edition to be both updated and expanded in coverage.
Chapters that appeared in the third edition have been revised, some very significantly, and eight new chapters have been added. Five new statements have been added to the existing set of guest statements, all of which have been prepared by academics and practitioners reflecting on their experience in translating concepts into action. Brand new pedagogical features like learning objectives, end-of-chapter review questions, and from the field boxes have all been added to this fourth edition.
