Description ▲
When the Internet was developed in the early 1980s, it underwent significant growth in a short period of time. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) was formed to solve the dilemma of whether to limit the rate of growth or to enhance its capabilities with an improved IP technology. They chose to create a new protocol called the IPng (Internet Protocol next generation) that will replace the limited protocol in current use. This IPng is designed to meet the demand for a larger address capacity on the Internet, as well as to improve security and support multimedia traffic on it and other TCP/IP networks.
