It is scarcely necessary to do more than point out to the reader the parallelism in many particulars between the phenomena of spontaneous somnambulism and those witnessed in hypnotism. As these phenomena are arranged under the same heads, the reader can make the comparison for himself. There is an obvious reason why the details are more complete in the description of the latter than the former, seeing that it is possible to prolong the induced condition, and carefully observe the reactions to various stimuli.
