Description

This edition represents a major revision of a textbook that has been a leader in its field since the first edition appeared in 1935. Approximately one half of the text cases have been replaced with current cases and considerable rewriting has been done to bring it up to date, to make it more readable, and to add new topics. Problem cases at the end of the chapters have also been replaced with recent cases. An entirely new chapter on employment law discusses not only the Labor Management Relations Act but the Civil Rights Act, OSHA, ERISA, and other important areas of government regulation of employment relations. Marvin F. Hill, Jr., of the University of Northern Illinois, contributed a major portion of the material in this chapter. Tort coverage has again been expanded. The chapter on constitutional law has been extensively rewritten and moved toward the back of the book because many students found this important area difficult to grasp at the beginning of law study. Much of the textual coverage of the Uniform Commercial Code has been rewritten to simplify and clarify as well as to update. The material covering the antitrust laws has been expanded to include recent amendments and recent cases in this vital area. The material on wills has been expanded into a full chapter concerning wills, trusts, and estates.
