Henry Schroder Wagg & Co from its founding in 1818 by John Henry Schroder, a Hamburg merchant, through difficult times in the international slump of the early 1930s, to its rise as one of the largest and most prestigious of city firms in London today.;Richard Roberts sets the firm's evolution as a business in the context of the evolution of international finance and merchant banking over the last two centuries. The role of London as an international and domestic financial centre is a key theme. The book is based on the firm's own records, complemented by archival researches in the UK, USA and Germany.
