Curriculum Models and Strategies for Educating Individuals With Disabilities in Inclusive Classrooms

These curriculum skills units have been developed as a guide to assist educators instructing disabled individuals in the areas of communication, math and science, social affective and psychomotor, and moral and character skills. They are also designed to assist individuals working in community agencies with responsibilities for working disabled individuals. Parents and other family members will find the strategies useful for follow-up activities from the school. Curriculum skills outlined in the text stress strategies needed to: (1) develop effective communication skills; (2) understand practical math and science skills; (3) determine acceptable social skills needed in society; (4) identify those affective and psychomotor skills needed to function successfully in the classroom and community; (5) teach acceptable moral and character development; and (6) provide functional strategies in the five curriculum domain areas for educators to implement. Presuming that a basic understanding of curriculum methods and procedures have been attained, this book definitely provides the necessary framework for innovative educators to extrapolate additional methods and procedures for teaching these skills.
