This book aims to provide methods for cross-national and trend social surveys using, in part, trend survey data accumulated since 1953. For social science research however, the book is written quite differently from the usual or conventional style. The approach is the so-called "grounded theory" approach. Concrete problems are analysed according to the data, using exploratory and detective ways of thinking and methods of analysis. An experiential method is used to clarify things which were not previously understood through conventional methods. The book also provides accurate understanding for those who tend to understand the Japanese way of thinking through the cross-national perspective.
