Biology of Bryophytes

Examines how the different processes of development are integrated into the whole life cycle of a bryophyte--and shows how an exact determination of external factors can reveal the key to the understanding of the internal regulation of developmental processes. Also correlates bryophyte development to the regulation and growth of plants in general. Each step in the development of a bryophyte is described: germination of spores, formation and growth of gemmae, protonemal differentiation, regeneration, gametangia production, and pathways in the life cycle, including sporophyte development.
