Rotordynamics Prediction in Engineering

Presents a systematic and practical approach to the prediction of rotordynamics behavior. Opens with a description of the characteristics of rotor elements, then considers simple models showing basic data and introduces the use of finite element techniques. Considers industrial applications such as centrifugal and magnetic bearing compressors, steam and gas turbines and jet engines. Chapters also deal with transient motions and rotors passing through critical speeds and briefly examine the influence of torsion. The problems brought about by dissymetric shafts, equations with periodic coefficients and axial torque are discussed in the final chapter.
