Mind gives birth to thought and then uses its thought as the model of its creation, just as the artist conceives the idea of his picture and then uses the ingenuity of his brain and hand to picture forth its beauties in form and color. The mind, therefore, whether of the Universal or the Individual, has but one way to act, at the beginning of any series. It must act by thought. And thought, in turn, always expresses in words. We always think in concrete terms or words. So we are told by John, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The purpose of this book, in the main, is to show the various phases of the activity of this law - the Law of Creative Activity - by which the creative mind brings into form whatever we present to it, sufficiently forcefully, in thought.
