An illegal Russian satellite falls to Earth and sets off a chain of events involving the CIA, KGB, ASIO, atomic weapons, US spy bases, terrorists, Aborigines, and the Australian SAS.
Set in Outback Australia, The Amino Project explores the clash of modern society with an ancient culture woven into an out-and-out Intelligent Services thriller.
Mike Pierce is a CIA Agent based at the US/Australian Joint Intelligence facility at Pine Gap in Central Australia. He was a rising star within the agency until a small discretion earned him a stint at this far from nowhere base. He struggles with his role in the CIA and whether Intelligence Services are appropriate in this modern day. But circumstances folowing the crash of the Russian satellite and his subsequent role in them answers many of his nagging questions.
To add more intrigue to the plot, the satellite crashes near a secret terrorist base where a new and powerful weapon is being developed. How all these characters and entities become intertwined with each other and how their circumstances play out is where the book shines.
What is so important about this Russian satellite that would spark so many conflicts?
How do the Russian, American, and Australian governments and their respective Intelligence Services handle the situation?
Where do the Aborigines fit into all this and how does the clash between their ancient culture and the most technological and modern society know to mankind pan out?
Do ancient cultures always suffer at the hands of a more modern society or does it always have to end that way?
This book explores all these ideas in a rollicking good tale.
