Whatever!: and other intriguing sermons

No one has ever accused author Wayne McLaughlin of being boring in the pulpit. Too liberal maybe, too Biblical maybe, but not boring. Wayne's parishioners say they come to church with anticipation of what he will say each Sunday. They almost always leave worship enlightened, inspired, challenged, or disturbed, but never bored.

Whatever! contains sermons that sparkle with insight and crackle like kindling in the fireplace. Some of them soothe-others provoke.

The author grew up with a fundamentalist theology and began his pastoral ministry as a Southern Baptist. But as he continued his Biblical and theological studies, his understanding of his Christian faith began to change. In 1978 McLaughlin transferred his ordination into the Presbyterian Church.

Pastor McLaughlin has won awards in national sermon-writing contests. His sermons have been published in Pulpit Digest, The Presbyterian Peacemaking Notebook, and More Light Update.

The author of these provocative sermons is a happy introvert. He gives blood regularly; and he enjoys photography, genealogy, blogging, and reading about meditation. He has two cats named Oliver and Tillich.
