When a hurricane destroys her home, thirteen-year-old Kara issent up north to live with her grandmother, Lily. There, Kara ishorrified to discover that the townspeople believe Lily is a witchand responsible for the disappearance of a child twenty years ago.As Kara explores this mystery, she discovers a park hergrandmother helped create, a park filled with eerie stone dragons.Kara also discovers pieces of something called "the dragon boneflute," a device capable of opening doorways to other worlds.Armed with only a piece of the flute, Kara succeeds in opening adoorway between her world and the world of dragons.And then, everything goes wrong. First one dragon, then anotherclaws its way into Kara's small town. Now, in order to close theportal, Kara and her friend, Dylan, must race to find other piecesof the flute before the dragon queen, Bone, takes over the world.
