Description ▲
Over the last half century the moral fiber of the United States has changed greatly, due largely to technological improvements affecting the media. The universalization of television and form education and the advent of the internet have given the multitude a perception of knowledge and power which could not have been foreseen by our Founding Fathers. Delegation of powers, which had been questioned as a political concept, has given rise to a delegation of our rationality. The book begins with the arrest of the author pursuant to a Federal Grand Jury indictment caused by the Government delegation of a criminal investigation into counterfeiting to an inept State investigator and, in turn, a career criminal. The author and his wife had graduated from law school in 1979, left their college teaching positions in Boston, relocated to Daytona Beach in 1981 and were building a law practice when in 1985 their lives were shattered by the author's arrest. They proved during a three week Federal criminal trial that he was not guilty and then, in a subsequent civil trial, that the investigation had been negligent. In 1989, they began practicing in Juvenile Dependency Court, seeking to fight for parents to regain their children after having been taken by the Government only to find the "we, the people" had surrendered to government functionaries, not only the right to control our families, but also our right to exercise our own rationality. This book discusses the events that transfored a tenured Assistant Professor of Political Science into a criminal defendant identified as "Dummy" in his Federal trial into the self-proclaimed "village idiot" of Juvenile Dependency Court. The book also forces the reader to take a long hard look at the evolution of our government and the direction it is taking with our futures.
