Advanced missiles lay at the core of the American power. To advance the technology, top talent is recruited from wherever available. That's why modern America employs weapon scientists born elsewhere, even if some of them arrive in the USA with complex loyalties hidden in their consciences. But modern America is also broke. Weapon research labs and Pentagon contractors struggle for funds as they dump some of their recruited talent on the streets. One such talent is Mathew Salagen: late night on a Los Angeles beach, the trigger of a 9 mm Beretta seems the last answer for his shattered life. An immigrant missile scientist with a complicated past, he is unemployed, at the end of a bitter divorce, and broke. But fate plays is differently: helped to survive, Salagen must reassess his deadly science and his loyalties, and, suddenly, his survival depends on his ability to break the shadow circle tightening around him. And none of his friends, lovers or foes are who they say they are.
