Heeding the Voice of Heaven: Sadao Watanabe Biblical Stencil Prints

The Brauer Museum of Art presents Heeding the Voice of Heaven: Sadao Watanabe Biblical Stencil Prints, a catalogue that accompanies the exhibition of the same name at the museum from August 24 through November 19, 2010. This full color, 176-page,soft cover catalogue reproduces all of the pieces in the exhibition, with the image of each stencil print paired with the relevant biblical passage orverse. Sadao Watanabe (1913-1996)was a Japanese Christian artist who received an honorary doctorate from Valparaiso University in 1987, and whose work is highly regarded regionally,nationally, and internationally. The catalogue,edited by Brauer Museum director/curator Gregg Hertzlieb, includes essays bythe exhibition curator Richard H. W. Brauer, Japanese print expert Sandy Kita, Watanabe collector and Valparaiso University graduate Daniel Lindquist, and acclaimed theologian Martin E. Marty.
