Augustine once said, "As the orator, when asked, What is the first precept in eloquence? answered, Delivery: What is the second? Delivery: What the third? Delivery: so, if you ask me in regard to the precepts of the Christian Religion, I will answer, first, second, and third, Humility." John Calvin agreed so much with this statement that he believed that no one could be saved by Christ until they were first humbled. The teachings included in this book are taken from John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion (translated by Henry Beveridge) and from his commentaries on the Bible (translated by Joseph Haroutunian, Rev. James Anderson, Rev. John Owen, Thomas Meyers, M.A., and Rev. William Pringle).
