An ancient dagger, that has an odd effect upon any who come into contact with it, is discovered in Antarctica. Returned to the United States it is stolen to repay a gambling debt, and falls into the wrong hands.

Infected by the essence of an alien race of mutant shape shifters that are slowly taking over his body, Jack Griffith embarks on a search for the only one who stands in the way of their return. A brain damaged four-year-old boy whose disturbing gaze holds the secrets of life and death, a child capable of closing the conduit to the past forever.

The boy's father, Sam Hardin, must come to terms with his own demons, and the guilt he feels over his wife's untimely death, in time to protect his son from the beast that masquerades behind the face of a human.

In the final battle, among the snow-covered peaks outside of a small mountain town, the fate of mankind hangs in the balance as Sam and Jack go head to head in a fight to the finish.

Only one will emerge victorious.
